I was really charmed by this book. It was so lovely to read something so genteel and innocent. The way the characters spoke was so quaint and endearing. Such a far cry from the world as we know it today. I did however, feel a little impatient for them when they were trying to get a point across, with such flowery prose.
Amelia, the main character was a joy to behold. She was so cossetted and completely spoiled, but you couldn't fail to love her. The love story between her and Edmund was beautiful and innocent, however she was definitely more suited to Luke. The supporting characters painted a picture so clear, it was easy to read. The plot line had a great twist, which I guessed just before it was revealed. It didn't take anything away from the story though. It was a book which gave me great pleasure to read and I commend the author for a fine piece of writing.
