As a huge fan of war time fiction and romance I really enjoyed this story. It was like Downton Abbey meets romance and mystery and it was such an easy book to read.
Amelia's character was strong and she showed how women coped with loved ones in the war and also had her own independence, showcasing her drawings to publish a book.
The book was well written and all the characters were good and varied. Edmunds character was well written and I would not have guessed what happened to him at the end.
The book was full of mystery and kept me reading until the very end, second guessing what was happening and I would not have predicted the chain of events that occurred.
I rooted for Lukes character throughout the book and felt so sorry for him when Edmund returned, but Amelia stayed true to her word and I enjoyed her happy ever ending at the end. I look forward to reading more of Nicola Pryce's work.
