I’m new to historical fiction and have only read a few before but this is my favourite by far.
The book follows Amelia, who’s fiancé Edmund was assumed dead while serving in the navy but recently she has fallen in love with Dr Luke Bohenna. But it turns out Edmund is alive and returns a changed man after his ordeal of being missing.
I absolutely loved the character of Amelia, and throughout the book I didn’t know who I was rooting for her to end up with Edmund or Luke. I felt like Amelia was such a warm character who was very intriguing.
The story kept me on my toes and I didn’t want to put it down once I started. The only thing that annoyed me about the book was the slow start, it took a while for me to get hooked but once I was I loved it and couldn’t put it down. The twist and the turns kept me on my toes.
I will definitely be keeping an eye out for other books by Nicola Pryce.
