This is the first of David Young's novels that I have read and although there are 2 previous books in the series this does not, thusfar, appear to impede the enjoyment of the story. The previous tales have been mentioned but this is a new Karin Muller, she is a mother, if not a wife, and it looks like things are hotting up for her.

I will be interested to see how this tale pans out. When I read the words Stasi and Cold War Thriller in the blurb I automatically assumed that this would be a West vs East novel. However, initial reading serves to dissuade me of this with it appearing to be about machinations within East Germany and may be as far reaching as the entirety of the Eastern Bloc.

I always used to avoid Thrillers set in this genre believing that they had nothing to offer me. However, I have read a couple now (through the auspices of Reader's First) and am starting to thoroughly warm to them and this one looks like being no exception.
