Karen Muller proved to be an interesting and likeable, but unlikely hero in the somewhat dark Stasi youth. As well as the usual traumas of being a dectective in Eastern Germany the battle against sexism even without a core mystery make for an interesting read. Add in a missing child and the story becomes unmissable.
