A Darker State by David Young is my very first book by this author, and it most certainly won't be my last. The reason I wanted to read A Darker State is that I had heard so much about David Young and I didn't get round to reading Stasi Child which I really wanted to read. As I didn't get to read David Young's two other novels, Stasi Child and Stasi Wolf. I wished I had read them both as both of them books were long listed for the Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the year awards and Stasi Child what I really wanted to read won the CWA Endeavour Historical Dagger. A Darker State takes place in East Germany. I had a feeling something was going to happen in the bitter cold Kazimierz takes his dog for a walk, when the dog pulled him and started howling, Kazimierz prepared himself for horror thinking that his dog had found a body. A body was found weighed down in the lake. The pathologist is sharp talking, not one to be messed about with by the police. The police are making their investigation as want to know how did the body get there? And so the readers. I love reading the sharp dialogue.if you like reading David Jackson and Marc Raabe then you will like reading all crime books by David Young.
