Was okay.
I struggled to get into this book initially and even when I was drawn into the story, I still did not devour it. The chapters going backwards and forwards in time and the moving from place to place made it hard to follow. I also found a lot of references to what must have been the previous novel and if you haven't read it then this also makes this one a little hard to follow. The different security forces within the Cold War setting were a bit confusing if, like me, you have not read a lot about this period in history.
However having said all this I did enjoy the mystery of the missing and dead youths and liked the characters of Karin Muller and her partner Werner Tilsner, their doggedness in what must have been such a constrictive environment.
I have recommended this novel to friends who enjoy spy novels as I think this would be a good alternative.
