The book was engaging from the very first page. It makes you wonder why Selma is in such a horrible place and it keeps you wondering for a while. The book then introduces you to a second character, in a completely different situation, but somehow the reader is aware that all the characters introduced are linked. The link between characters are made more clear, the more you read, but still keeps an element of mystery. It is written in such a unique and unorthodox way, and is so beautifully done. Hege come across as a victim and the reader can sympathise with her.
The short extract makes the reader feel a whole variety of emotions and leaves a lot of questions to be answered. The many questions makes the reader want to keep reading and get some answers, but somehow leaves them with more questions.
