From the very first paragraph of this book, the author assists the reader to build a very detailed mental image of the locus. For example, phrases like “cheese puff settee”, this is not a phrase I have ever come across and yet, gives me a vivid image of the item.
The book is split into fairly short chapters, which lends itself to picking this book up and reading a little when you have a spare 10 minutes here or there. I really love that as you are less likely to lose your place or forget what you may already have read.
I would definitely be interested in reading more of this book and seeing where the author took the characters. The fact that it focuses on the life of the professional skier gives the readers a chance to see a world that is likely different to their own.
