This is a very interesting book that has a number of threads. It mixes the politics of elite sport with a classy revenge aspect to the story. Hege Chin Morrell is one of Norway's elite skiers who is on the verge of Olympic glory when she unexpectedly fails a drug test which threatens her whole career and the dreams of her father who is a former skier and successful businessman. He hires another former skier (Selma Falck) who is now a lawyer who has committed a serious fraud. Selma is the central character is this novel as she tries to piece together the events leading up to the sabotage of Hege. The first quarter of the book takes a bit of effort to remember all the various characters as the book is set up in chapters that alternate between the various threads and backstories. The 2nd half of the book fairly races along as Selma gets closer and closer to unraveling the culprit. Well worth a read and will definitely read more from Anne Holt.
