The book starts with the main protagonist, Selma Falck, ex sports woman and lawyer, alone in a dirty mouse infested apartment with no contact with her husband or children.
Jan Morell, who was to blame for Selma’s predicament has a daughter, Hege an Olympic cross country skier. Hege has been accused of taking drugs. Jan will help Selma get her life back if she can clear his daughter.
I don’t know if it was the translation from Norwegian or the unfamiliar culture set in the world of skiing that made this book so difficult to read. The plot was so cumbersome and slow paced that it seemed you needed to have read a previous book to understand the dynamics between the characters.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this book on any level.
