My first read by this author and I was left feeling sadly disappointed with this read; which is unusual as I'm a fan of Scandinavian crime. I was expecting a fast paced thriller, but this was a slow burn of a mystery. The book opens with Hege Morell a Norwegian skier testing positive for a banned substance. She is adamant that she has never taken this drug. Selma Falck, a lawyer who has lost everything to gambling is hired by Jan Morell, Hege's father to clear his daughter's name. Another top skier turns up dead and maybe he has taken drugs.
All set for a flier of a read? Sadly not in my opinion the pace was very slow if not pedestrian and the ending seemed rushed, as if the author had run out of ideas.
