I did quite enjoy this book but there were times when it felt as though there were just too many characters and plot threads going on.
Set around the competitive Norwegian skiing world we have athletes being accused of cheating with drugs, a man trapped in a shrinking room, a down and out cop and then a bit of murder for good measure.
Trying to find her way through all this is the main character Selma Falck - a lawyer with a gambling problem (which has caused her to lose her family, many friends and her career). Despite being so flawed an ex client hires her to look into the doping/drugs scandal as his daughter is involved.
Selma has the advantage of being close to several of the characters at the centre of all the drama, which helps in her investigations but I can't say I warmed to her. In fact, you might say she's as cold as the Norwegian setting of this tale.
