An atmospheric murder mystery set in Blackwater Abbey, a large gothic mansion on an isolated Island of of the coast of Devon. While the great war rages on across the channel Lord Highmont arranges spiritualists gathering to try and contact his two sons who have lost their lives fighting in the war.
All is not as straight forward as it seems though, as the British Intelligence services believe there is more happening at Blackwater than a simple saince.
So Donovan, a secret agent is sent with the help of newly recruited aquantance of the family, Kate Cartwright, to Blackwater Abbey. Donovan goes disguised as manservant. Unfortunately for Kate, Donovan happens to be posing as a manservant to Kate's newley ex fiancé! Although this is a bit of a shock for Kate, it's not as big a shock as it is for Donovan when Kate reveals she is a real phsycic and can see and talk to spirits.
