I loved this book from the very first pages. Picture, if you will, a mix of intrigue, seances, safe breakers, secret tunnels, paranormal, war, served up with more than a hint of menace and everyday acceptance that there are more inhabitants of this world than we may realise at first glance.
I'm reluctant to say much more without giving the game away. If I'm honest, I could have done without the romance, and maybe more could have been made of the back story, I got the feeling that there should have been a previous book that set the scene. Maybe there was.
Anyway, curl up by the fireside, turn off any lights you don't need to read by, and make sure those curtains are firmly drawn before reading this one. Although you need to make very sure of who you are sealing into the room with you before you lock those doors.....You never know just who is watching ...
