I had to begin my evaluation with the cover; there was no other possible opening. It's simply breathtaking. If you read it on your Kindle, you'll undoubtedly buy a real copy so you can display it on your book shelf. It really is that attention-grabbing.
I was also drawn to this book because of the blurb. It simply had such a great, menacingly dark sound about it. I was eager to turn the pages and discover if the content matched the book's appearance and audio quality. Chapters of the story alternate between different characters. Specifically, Kate and Donovan, who just so happened to be my picks for the book's best characters. While Kate has a certain allure for me, especially considering the time period she lives in, when women are unquestionably regarded as the weaker sex, Donovan has an aura of mystery about him. However, she is no helpless damsel in need and is more than capable of taking care of herself. This kind of genre is always going to have a beautiful setting in an abbey on a remote island. It increases the suspense of the entire narrative. If you add a medium, you know you're onto something.I was very curious to see where the author was going to lead me. It's a beautifully eerie and compelling to read A House Of Ghosts. The isolated house and the period setting give it a slight Agatha Christie flavour, but that's where the similarity ends because the author clearly makes his own imprint and stands out on their own. As usual, it will keep you wondering and you could never have predicted the result. Definitely add this to your list of must-reads.
