House of ghost is a gripping read with fantastic characters and incredible twists. From the very start you are gripped, with the writing style growing in tension as the book goes on.
It's interesting from a historical aspect as it is set in 1917, during the first world war, and draws heavily on the espionage of the age for tension and gripping characters, and indeed for adding the required heartbreak and grief needed for a desire to speak to the dead. It covers the horrors of trench warfare and the heroics of the tunnellers, giving the reader an increased level of respect for the men, and women of WW1.
It's also interesting from a paranormal aspect, with characters with different views on the reality of this field, and various skill sets within it. It has scientific doubters, scientific believers, those with skills, those with hope and those who were just unfortunate enough to be roped in!

In the end, it just leaves you wondering who you should really be afraid of, those who have passed, or those still in the room with you...
