Firstly, I must say this is one of the most beautiful book covers I have ever laid eyes upon.
A beautifully written story full of intrigue and suspense, set 1917, the height of the first world War. I was instantly drawn in by the mystery of the winter solstice gathering on Blackwater Island.
This was an absolute pleasure to read. A perfect mix of creepiness and mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing of the book, and was gripped from the first few pages. I found the shifting of perspectives refreshing and added to the sense of mystery. The main characters were well developed and witty, providing some comic relief from what otherwise was a rather intense and dramatic storyline.
