This is being billed as a supernatural spooky story. IT'S NOT. While the cover (which is stunning in real life) and blurb suggest a gothic inspired ghostly tale this is actually a WW1 espionage romp.

It's the book equivalent of a Sunday evening TV drama....period setting, enough drama and mystery to hold your interest, resourceful fish out of water heroine, and strong jawed gentlemanly hero. The plot's simple enough to follow with a cast of red herrings, and scenes of derring-do clearly intending this to be the first of a series for our intrepid duo.

This was a really enjoyable read, despite not being what I expected at all....the supposed supernatural storyline was anything but...in fact the ghostly apparations added absolutely nothing to the story and seemed simply to be a whimsical aside to give this a more unique selling point, but it is a decent story...held my interest throughout and would pass on and recommend to others.
