The writing style is quite similar to that of The Woman in Black as it is reminiscent of that old English feel and of old London but feels much more modern and fresh, easy-going and not too slow. It's interesting that the author decided to write each chapter from the perspective of a different character. This can often be often disorientating to the reader and can put one off of a novel, but this book achieves the perfect balance of knowing when it is the right time to switch to a different point of view and when to carry on with the current one. Each character studies the other, describes their appearance and draws their own opinions, making you feel as though you know each one. Right in the very first few pages there is a twist that draws you in, making you want to read and read and read.
