I haven't read a lot of sagas in the past but I decided that Rosie Goodwin's A Mother's Grace would be a great place to start. Set in the late 1800s, Madeline and Jacob Kettle marry but their relationship looks doomed right from the start. Jacob's character is one of harshness and being strict and Madeline on the other hand is expecting a baby and fears one wrong move could trigger out a violent outburst from her husband. The story also follows a maid called Mabel who does her duty to keep the affairs in order. I'm interested to see where the story goes and the development of Madeline's baby who will play a role later on in the novel.
