Being drawn into the building drama of real world events on a more realistic human level is always going to be compelling hook for a novel and a easy way to create a modern classic. It’s fun to peer through contemporary accounts or read what historians records say about the era.

Structurally, the story is told in a chronological format through overlapping pieces of different perspectives, taking the reader from one location to the nexg; England, Scotland, Poland and finally Sweden. The main characters have rich backstories that are slowly delivered. The author has clearly put a massive amouny of time into research and I applaud him for the attention to detail that he takes pride in. A blend of fact with fiction that is expertly done.

A standout novel and thriller that truly captures your imagination after only a handful of pages - exemplary.
