I haven't read anything by this author, Wilde, before and I was pleasantly surprised by his captivating and interesting writing style. Wilde appears to have researched the time period well and this wartime peace is fast-paced and stunningly written. As I prefer reading fiction novels this blend of reality and fiction was a welcome reprieve. One of my favourite themes of the book was the political intrigue spotted in, as well as the book being a crime thriller. Some of the confusing aspects put me off slightly, such as the characters and their personalities and motives, but overall I really would recommend giving it a shot. Some of the characters were also quite stereotypical, however, that shouldn't put you off buying the book or at least borrowing it from the library for a read. A good read for anyone interested in spy/crime thrillers.
