This is the second book I have read by Rory Clements featuring Tom Wilde.
I really enjoyed the first but didn't enjoy this as much.Prince George, Duke of Kent goes to meet his cousin Prince Phillip Von Hessen who is a Nazi and close friend of Hitler.They meet in Sweden in 1942 . Phillip is trying to persuade George to try and get a surrender. Days later a George is killed in a plane crash.Officially it is an accident but there is some doubt.
Cambridge spy Tom Wilde is sent in to investigate. His findings will affect the whole world.
This is well written and had good historical detail. The characters are well drawn and the story moves at a good pace.
I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous one. Maybe it was the setting. It wouldn't stop me recommend this book as I'm sure other readers would find it gripping. Its interesting to speculate on what might have been!
