This was my first read by author, Rory Clements but I was instantly intrigued as I love a historical drama.
The main protagonist is Cambridge History Professor Tom Wilde and is set in summer 1942. The book opens with Professor Wilde being asked to visit Scotland on a mission to discover the truth behind a grisly crash. This mission being on behalf of the OSS (an American intelligence department).
The story is well written with a wonderful descriptive aspect, making the characters he meets along the way, either likeable or a bit untrustworthy.
I enjoyed following Professor Wilde's and his dangerous path to establish the truth behind the story and why it was being hidden from the general public.
In the future I would like to continue with the series and I will actively search out some of the authors previous works from this series.
It was clever to include the real events the story was based around at the end of the book. I would highly recommend reading.
