It's heartening to see smiles on the cover of novel about wartime hardship so we can fully expect to read of cheery Cockney fortitude and good spirits. I enjoyed Jean Fullerton's A Ration Book Christmas and anticipate this second helping of the Brogan family saga to be equally rich in historic detail and packed with brave characters.
