I really enjoyed this introduction to the book.
We are introduced to the Brogan family, mother Ida, father Jeremiah and his mother Queenie. Set in war time London, we are introduced to some of the everyday struggles people faced with rationing and having to go to the shelters every evening to avoid the bombing.
Add to that Ida's discovery that her husband was unfaithful with her friend resulting a a 10 year old boy.
Nice easy read and the characters are warm, and the sense of family and community is introduced and I hope that this will be continued throughout the book.
