I really, really hope to read this book ASAP. I love historical fiction and this book is set in wartime Britain. The cover grabs my attention with its retro vibe. I love the clothes, hairdos and of course the bunting! The title, A Ration Book Childhood, conjures up images of dirty faces, make do and mend clothing and one pot dinners stretching to however many mouths there were to feed. Funny, although these were hard times, my grandparents look back on the “good old days” fondly. The family in the story don’t have their sorrows to seek but it seems there’s more on the way. An old friend, a secret, a child, all is not as it seemed !
