This is a great war time novel showing the lives of people on the home front rather than on the battle field.

There is home life drama from the very beginning when the main character discovers that her husband cheated on her long ago and has a ten year old son. The novel takes on different points of view as the family deals with this huge bombshell in the midst of the Second World War.

I did enjoy the snippets of family life that we were introduced to but I found it hard to sympathise with the main character the further the novel went on. I kind of wanted her to just do something rather than sit around sulking.

I would still recommend this however to anyone who likes a wartime novel told from the home front.
