From the start I was with the main character ida, from the beginning I was enthralled into the middle of world war 2 but that wasn't the only story being told. I found I was thrown into this chaos of a family living through the war but that was a background to the story that is transmitted through the ages and is relevant in every decade. A question asked and a decision so hard to make it hurts to even think about. I truly enjoyed this book and the emotions the author took me on, the love and the disappointment I really felt every word I was reading I couldn't put it down it kept me wanting more, which what is that makes this book a must read, it should be on top of everyone's Christmas list, everyones book club great book.
