Wow what can I say? .......... It's not the sort of book I normally read and must admit it took a few chapters to get me hooked, but when I was I couldn't put it down.
It gave you a brilliant insight into life during war time with the highs and lows, the uncertainty and the strong family bond needed during trying times.
It was at times an emotional read, once feeling sad and then happy.
It was beautifully written and I will be on the look out for the other books in this series as I need to know more about Ida and her family.
I have passed this book on to my Granddaughter to read, learn and have a little better knowledge of what her Great Grandparents experienced during the war, of which she is very interested in.
