I enjoyed reading A Ration Book Childhood more than I had expected as it isn't my usual type of book. This is one of a series of books following the lives of the Brogan family as they navigate life in the Blitz. I enjoyed reading about life in this difficult time and the things people did to carry on with their lives. It seemed particularly interesting given the current lockdown people are living with. The book has a good story and some interesting characters such as Queenie, the tough as nails grandmother. I skimmed over some description in places and felt there was a little too much repetition about the red ribbon but overall it's not a bad read. I will be reading the next book in the series when it becomes available.
