I'm not normally into books that go back in history same as period dramas, but the older i get the more i want to read about our past and history.
Based in the East End of London the story is based around the Brogan family. The family have emotional and physical scars from the war but as all families back then they are fighters and don't give up easily.
With the rationing it's getting more and more difficult for them with food, the struggles. Working long hours to keep the family unit together and feed the best they could.
I can't imagine what it would have been like, the fear of the bombs and when they are coming next, not knowing if there's enough food to feed your family, whether loved ones would be coming back from the war, it's definitely an eye opening to days gone by.
