If you’re attracted to this book by either its title, its front cover or its central premise, then it’s very likely you will have read something fairly similar already. And if that’s what you’re looking for, then read it by all means.

However, I’m becoming a little tired of books of this ilk popping up week after week. There is clearly an appeal as they very frequently feature on bestseller lists and adore the window displays of railway-based bookstores, but I’m looking for something different. I want books to offer me something new; I wasn’t new ground to be covered, not a rehash of the same old tired tropes.

Perhaps I’m just the wrong audience for this book - and it’s very likely that’s the case - but for me it’s just the latest in a long line of similar reads.
