I had never heard of Jean Fullerton before, but I really enjoyed this book. I could really feel the emotions of the characters while reading this book, I felt like I was getting to know them better and better as the book went on. I like reading books that are set during the war time, I find that they are a good glimpse into what life may have been like for the people. Living on rationing must have been a real challenge and I think that it does you good to consider that to be able to appreciate what you have yourself. I felt that Ida was a very resilient mother and wife, after having a touch time she still comes out the other end showing her caring and family centred nature. I will be looking out for mean of Jean Fullerton's books as I enjoyed this one so much. It reminded me of a book I read years ago by Lynda Page.
