A family saga, London's East End, the Blitz, rationing, the romantic appeal of a "bad boy" - I find it hard to believe that there is any more literary "mileage" in these well-worn themes. I'm sure that it will appeal to many so I will leave the draw open to readers who will appreciate this book more than I think I would!
