I really enjoyed the opening chapters of this book, the story of Jo and Billy siblings evacuated to Colchester and the story of Tommy, Jo's boyfriend and his villian brother Reggie living in the East End. Although there have been similar books this seems well written with strong characters. The cover looks like a cliche, jolly cockneys at Christmas time so I would have dismissed this book as a lightweight read.
