Jo takes Billy back to her family in wartorn London and faces a baptism of fire from the Blitz . Seventeen year old Jo signs up for the Ambulance Service as she has been learning to drive. She wants to do her bit and thinks it will take her mind of her first love , Tommy Sweete . Her family do not want her to have anything to do with him for the Sweetes are bad news , but Tommy is law abiding , isn't he ?
As the Blitz intensifies will Jo and her family keep safe ? Rationing becomes ever stricter and the family wonder if they will manage to have their traditional Christmas .
I really liked this book . It was exciting and had a christmassy feel at the end .
