I really enjoyed this book, and would describe it as a cosy wartime romance.
It centres around the stories of Jo Brogan, a 17 year old who starts the book as an evacuee, but soon returns to 1940 London, and Tommy Sweete who despite a dubious past is now determined to stay on the straight and narrow for Jo.
This is not revolutionary in the main plot line, a romance which faces challenges caused by deliberate and accidental misunderstandings, but which ultimately works out (sorry for plot spoiler!!) But the story moves along at a good pace, and we learn enough about the main characters to be able to have feelings for them and want things to work out well.
The historical details are good and add to the atmosphere and background.
A nice, cosy read perfect for when the nights are drawing in.
