A good, well written and easy to read book set to the background of London in WWII, with a love story running through it. The trials and tribulations of every day life with the added elements of air raids, rationing and death. The Brogan family are the main characters of the book. Each of them have their own problems and play their part for survival through the air raids on London. The author's research into the work of the ambulance, fire and rescue crews is highlighted in the details of the volunteers such as the Brogan family, their friends and neighbours. The one criticism I have is that the author has tried to cover almost all scenario possible with some of the characters but that doesn't detract the book from being a good read.
