I really liked this book. It is very well wrote, in a lot of detail. The setting is wonderful and I love how this book captures that despite the horrors of the war the bombs, the rations etc, this book captures the essence of wartime back then and especially christmas how people came together. I loved the relationship between Tommy and Jo however all the characters are good and easy to follow. I work as a care assistant and one of our ladies is 98 she read this book and said it was scarily accurate to how she remembers war time Britain being especially at Christmas, she said it brought back good memories of a awful time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. This is not the usual book I would personally choose to read but a friend recommend it and I am glad I brought it.
