I really wouldn’t normally read books like this, the cover alone would put me off. But, it was Christmas and so I got festive and gave it a go. After a few attempt I finally settle to read this and I’m so glad I did. I was surprised to find the book flowed well and it was written.
I lived the characters Jo and her younger brother. They had been evacuated from London, and didn’t really fit in, so they leave to travel back home.
I don’t want to give too much away- needless to say there is a romance and obviously war is raging, but there’s a fairly happy ending so don’t worry.
I was surprised to enjoy this book, but I did. I Will now look out for some more books by this author and the era in the future.
