I have to confess I am not a fan of wartime historical novels, I feel the genre has been done to death and nothing really new ever comes out that impresses me. Whilst there is essentially nothing wrong with the first impression of this book, it just isn't me. I think readers will find it easy to read, the language used is very accessible in my opinion. I did find it a little dull, but that could be my opinion of wartime fiction rather than this actual book.
