I am 17, and so obviously have no idea what the war was really like. However, this extract felt so nostalgic, yet without being something I had read before. The story paces itself fairly quickly, but not too fast as to not let you imagine every sense going on in every sentence. Despite not being a book I would usually pick up, I am hooked!
