I absolutely love the idea of the central character being a woman from the Blitz era, who would not have had much involvement in the war, but the focus on her personal life and emotion shows that despite not being represented much throughout historical accounts or reports, women bared the strains of the war just as much as men. I love the focus on Cathy's personal relations and the concept of focusing on those, it provides so much more depth for all women throughout the Blitz and gives some form of insight as to how life was for women during this era.
And I adore the front cover design! The image of a mother and her son surrounded by beautiful flowers encapsulates the idea of a positive and flourishing future for Cathy!
