I love the first impression as it gives a look inside a woman’s life in that time period and because of the fact it says that she cannot divorce men shows the power the woman held and it was nothing as she hand no chance of getting divorced. Also it says abusive this can be reality for some woman in that time. The only chance she had of escaping the abusive relationship and going into a loving one was Stanley being dead
