I am not a huge fan of historical fiction, but I know many people are. I read the opening chapters in case it did grab me as i am always open to having a good book change my mind. While i can see that the book is well written and the author has clearly undertaken considerable research on the historical period, I remain unconvinced that i would particularly enjoy it.
However, for a fan of wartime fiction i can see the appeal that this book (and the series) would hold.
The cover suggests a comforting read, perhaps mild peril in which the 'hero' overcomes the odds.
