personally, books that share the war period genre don't really grab my attention or even slightly intrigue me. This book however, had a very fascinating and amazing introduction to the character Cathy, whom I noticed I had a liking for from the start. I am not familiar with this author's books but I decided to look into books surrounding the East End as it was of interest to me. The cover is quite old fashioned bringing in the sense of comfort and truth. I think it was a brilliant start and I am quite excited to read on!
