Oh I absolutely adore this series, and was utterly delighted when I won an advanced copy from Reader's First to read.
Again this book focused on the Brogan family during WW2, this time the leading part being taken by Cathy, whose abusive husband Stanley is reported missing presumed dead in action. If he doesn't return within 6 months, then Cathy will finally be free of him and able to start again. Which, with the arrival of the handsome bomb disposal officer Archie as her new lodger ( much to her mother-in-law's disgust!), may be a very good thing!
These books have great period detail which really adds to the authenticity of the story. All of the characters are really well written, nicely rounded and I really feel like I know them well.
Having said this, this book would work really well as a stand alone, and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story with a bit of history and romance thrown in.
