I really adore wartime fiction and this series does not disappoint.
The characters are lovable and interesting and cuddling up to read this book series is like coming back to a friend.
If you like call the midwife this book is for you.
Cathy is my favourite character and seeing her struggles break my heart. Her husband is horrible and having to wait to find out if he will come back or not is a horrible feeling.
I love Archie, he’s Scottish but not the pasty white Scot you think of. He is described so well and sticks up for himself whilst still being a good man and doing a brave job.
It’s sad to hear that this is the final book in the series but heart warming to know that some of the stories in this book come from real life experiences and true stories that were told to the author.
I have passed on my other books in this series to a friend who read two of them in one day!
